Getting Certified for Six Sigma

Six Sigma is a good system that can help your organization become more disciplined, having a more customer-focused mindset and help define standards. It also helps to raise the awareness and visibility of problems that have long been taken for granted. The things that everybody knows about but no one wants to start a change program.

Options for Certification

The starting point to enable your company change the way it execute processes or deals with customers is to get certification in place. Usually, the executive leaders of a company act as sponsors for improvement programmes which means they should become trained first. Executive Black Belt training is a good starting point and a full training can be achieved in a couple of days taking the workload of executives into account.

Black Belt and Green Belt

The Black Belts and Green Belts in your company will be the doers. They will lead and execute programs designed for change in the company. It is obvious that for change to last, you would need a critical mass. Therefore, it makes sense to have a couple of Black Belts trained up as Master Black Belts. They can train and coach other Black Belts. The community of Six Sigma experts in your company should be such that the momentum gained is carried forward to enable continuous improvement.
Green Belt Certification takes about one week and can be done usually off-site. TopCV International provides specific training modules enabling fast certification based upon a proven method and very practical approaches.
Black Belt Certification takes another two weeks for a successfully certified Green Belt. During these weeks, a deeper understanding and practical use of techniques and tools are the primary focus. Some training companies provide a strong emphasis on statistical methods while others provide more hands-on and practical experiences to work with. A very important element of each certification programme is how to deal with change. Normally, people are resistant to change, this is something to overcome the right way without damaging existing positive ways of working for example.

Advantages

If you are pursuing a career change, a promotion or want to land better paying jobs, six sigma certification should certainly be of interest to you. Becoming part of a growing business elite whilst being able to apply your skills and knowledge in an efficient manner is something many executives, managers and consultants would aspire to. Also, the training courses are excellent ways to network with new people who share a common interest and are usually already successful in their field.
